Imminent Release Notification
We just about to release the alpha version of V1.3 this will be on Monday, so we're wanting to let everyone know so they can download it as soon as possible.
Well, what can we say about it, well we're pleased. :o)
In this latest version update we're implementing more than a few "special" features.
Exception Handler
If the ethosBASIC editor encounters any problems and crashes (hopefully not obviously) then our own bug reporting system will be presented. We are dedicated to providing a 100% stable product, if any problems are found this will assist us in solving any issues.
Web Access
You can now directly access HTTP web pages, either to download files, or interact with your own, or the ethosBASIC web server (licensed users only).
Windows 98 Support
Well we've solved all Windows98 issues, all 98 users are recommended to download the alpha version.
Bank Commands Improved
There is a whole plethora of additional bank commands, compressed save and load are also now supported.
UPX .EXE Compression
All .EXE files are compressed as they are made now, this means the minimum .EXE size has dropped to very respectable 350k!!
This is all that will be presented in this stable ALPHA release, we're still working on these:
Mappy Support
The most excellent tile map editor is now fully supported on each playfield.
(85% complete)
Additional File Access Commands
You'll be able to get file information, create and list directories.
TCP Communication
Talk peer-to-peer with these new communication commands.
Program Run Commands
Re-run the loaded ethosBASIC program, or re-run the current one.
Encrypted Routines
Want to supply your game or program but keep some routines private, this is for you.
Command Scripts
We're modifying the tools system, this will mean you no longer loose any tools or splash screens you've made.
Image Rotation
Yep, this ones a doozey. Rotate, flip and scale images.
Verification Certificates
With the introduction of the new version we'll be introducing a new license certificate system this will be automatically accessed. This is required to try and encourage the many, how can we put this, not really licensed users?! :o) to purchase ethosBASIC and support its continued development.
Well as you can see, there are a load of new elements in V1.3 and we're very excited by some of the simple demo programs we're writing.

Some AOL users have contacted us stating that they are unable to retrieve their registration details.
To all those users that have contacted us in this fashion, and in particular one who hasn't:

We are unable to assist you as your email is being blocked, this this means that not only can you not reveive emails from the www.ethosbasic.com website, but you are also blocking emails from ethosBASIC Support.
The support staff have tried with a number of methods to contact you but all emails are being returned and obviously this has become very frustrating for them.
Please will all users wishing to be members of the ethosBASIC User Group check there email accounts if they do not receive a registration email, we pride ourselves on the level of support we offer, but we are unable to assist this small percentage of our user group.

You can now download Version 1.2.6.
This addresses a number of minor issues and adds a new command:
* Editor issue with small files scrolling using wheel fixed
* Fixed issue with the first line of text file being ignored
* Fixed volume not working
* Added SPLIT command
* Changed DIMSIZE to be indexed from 1 not 0
* Fixed issues with REPEAT$, STRING$ and SPACE$ commands

Users will notice a number of small modifications appearing in the website over the next few weeks.
Initially we've added links from the home page to the forum sections, and the following additional elements will shortly be added to the user forum:
1. Search forum
2. Buttons for code and quote blocks
3. Minor stylings (Bold, italics)
4. Smilies
5. Emailed replies to message threads

Well the Christmas time is over, New Year is here and we are all looking forward to the possibilities of 2004.
We've taken down our decorations and we're ready for the year ahead, good look to you all in your ethosBASIC developments.
